At Under 10, all players train and play with a hard ball. Coaching programmes continue to develop sound cricket techniques. There is increased attention on developing match awareness. Sessions are designed and plenty of matches are organised with both these in mind. It’s a busy and fun age group.
Training is on Wednesday evenings, from 30th April 2025 from 6:15pm-8:15pm, for 15 weeks. Training venue will alternate between New Road and Shrewsbury House School Sports ground. All training is included within the Club Membership and is delivered by our professional coaches.
All players have opportunity to play plenty of matches on well kept grass wickets. All matches will be hard ball and played mainly on Sundays but also some midweek evenings. Some matches will be proper cricket, some pairs cricket. There are development benefits to both formats at this age group.
We’ve also entered into cup competitions and will again look to host our own very popular Esher tournaments
Match playing Kit: All players will be required to have their own protective kit (Bat, Helmet, Pads, Gloves, Box) For matchplay we play in the Esher Navy Blue Playing Shirt and Navy trousers. Kit is available to purchase from the club kit shop and is supplied by Masuri. For the shirt, numbers are allowed on the back, but no names please. https://eshercc.co.uk/kit/

Please see below for our 2024 Season Report (U9s):
The 2024 season was an incredible journey for our U9 squad, filled with thrilling matches, impressive performances, and strong team spirit. Across 50+ games, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 fixtures (all hardball), the boys demonstrated remarkable progress in all aspects of the game. They also participated in four tournaments, securing two victories, with one runner-up finish and one match unfortunately washed out.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents for their unwavering support in ensuring the boys made it to games and training sessions. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated parent volunteers—our umpires and scorers—who played a crucial role in keeping things running smoothly. A special mention goes to our coaching team, whose dedication and expertise helped the boys develop their skills, enjoy a competitive season, and foster lifelong friendships.
We are incredibly proud to say that this year 11 boys were selected for the Surrey U10 Pathway Programme for 2025, highlighting the strength of the team and the high-quality coaching they received and are currently undergoing their training, furthering their development at the county level.
