Mens Cricket

Esher Cricket Club was formed in 1863 following a meeting of like-minded individuals in a local Esher pub.  We are committed to the concept of fair (but hard) play and adhere to the MCC Sprit of cricket.

Our Adult Teams – A full range of abilities and aspirations. 

The 1st XI play in the Premier Division of the Surrey Championship, the very highest  standard of league cricket in Surrey.

The 2^nd XI also play in the Premiership, the highest level for 2nd XI cricket.

The 3^rd XI play in Division 1 after being promoted and winning their division in 2021.

The 4th XI will play in Division 3 after being promoted and winning their league in 2021 and 2022.

In 2024,  the 5th XI will play in the Surrey Championship for their 2nd year.

For the 2024 season, we plan on regularly fielding 6th XI and 7th XI teams on Saturday afternoons.

Senior Academy– we encourage all our older YC’s to train and play with the adult teams.  To aid this transition we also play a Development XI in the Surrey Trust League Tier 1 on Sundays.

All our Adult teams play on the best local grass wickets available

Our 1st and 2nd XI play their home matches at our main ground of New Road.

Our 3rd XI to 7th XI play all their home matches on the grass wickets of Imber Court.  All grounds have access to a good clubhouse. At Imber Court, two adult home matches can also be played side by side.

Adult Training

Adult training is at New Road every Thursday evening from 6pm. New Road has 7 net lanes,  2 batting cages and bowling machines that provide optimal resources for training. 3 new nets were added in 2023 and the existing 4 net lanes were refurbished. For those playing cricket for the 1st time (or for a while), our professional coaches  also run a series of ‘back to cricket’ sessions.

Vibrant Social Calendar

The Club also has a vibrant social calendar. During the year the Club organise an end of season ball (September), a cricket tour to Sarasota, Florida (November), a City lunch (April), lunch at the Club (May) and a comedy night (May).
