Five Adult XIs this Saturday. YC coaching in full flow. Bar protocol

Dear all,

I hope everyone continues to be safe and well.

The bar – Important
The rules are clear. We are only allowed to serve alcohol to people who are seated. There is a limit of 6 per table. We are not allowed to stand on the terrace with drinks in hand. The bar team will be advised and will not serve anybody who is not following the rules. Please help by making this as painless as possible. More freedom is only weeks away.
Thankyou.

Recent Results
The 1st XI had another good run out. A half century for Andy McCallum and 96 from Justin on the way to 261-6 in rain reduced 46 overs. As rain returned, Weybridge were set a revised total of 238 from 38, finishing 15 or so short despite a fine partnership.

The 2s struggled to 164 thanks to 48 from Jonathan Miles and never recovered from some wayward bowling in the first 7 overs of the reply, eventually losing by 5 wickets.

The 3s posted 175 at Horsley & Send with runs shared, dismissing our hosts for 100 + VAT. Messrs Lenton and Burnett bowling nicely.

Grey hairs to the fore for the 4ths at West End. Well Glenn H at least with a retired 50. Adrian Price made 80 odd in a 9 wicket win, chasing 187.

The U15 girls had a last ball win at Pyrford, with a scramble leg bye after Emilia P retired on 45*.The U12s put in a great team performance and learned a lot in their first match.

Back to back matches for U11 boys against Reigate at Imber Court produced some exciting cricket. All the boys bowled in our defence of 121 in 20 overs and managed to win by one run, keeping Reigate to 3 from the last over. Great fun!

The U9s should be commended for their efforts in a freezing cold bank holiday tournament. All 3 Esher teams played well, the Griffins losing out to a strong East Molesey in the final. Well done to boys and parents alike for braving the wind!

Chairman’s moments of the week
This week the first award goes to 3s Captain Charlie Winder, for “living the club values”. Spotting an opportunity for U14 Freddie P to bat with his dad, he dropped himself down the order. A good call since that lead to a partnership of 70.

The second goes to U12 Ben F in a match against Spencer. Opening the bowling, Ben’s first ball hit the top of middle and his second the top of off stump. Unplayable. with a bit of luck and warmer fingers he may even have had 3-0 in 5 balls.

Best regards,

Geoff Ellis

Chairman
